    About

And you’re here. There’s a fire in your belly.I love that. I feel it too. I want to help you burn even brighter, beautiful.

    Welcome to The Heartful Spoon.
My name is Logan Reed, and this site is my way of sharing the recipes, stories, and little lessons that food has taught me about love, resilience, and connection.

    A Childhood Full of Warmth

I grew up in Asheville, North Carolina, a small mountain town known for its art, music, and soulful food. My childhood kitchen was always alive with activity: my mother humming old folk songs while stirring soup, my grandmother carefully shaping biscuits, my father brewing strong coffee as the sun rose over the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Those early years taught me that food isn’t just about sustenance—it’s about comfort. I remember times when life felt uncertain, like when my dad lost his job for a while, yet somehow a pot of chicken stew on the table made everything feel okay. It wasn’t the food itself—it was the love stirred into it.

    Life’s Twists and Discoveries

In my twenties, I pursued a career in social work. I spent years listening to people’s stories, helping them through hardships, and learning how deeply human beings need connection. During those years, cooking became my personal outlet. After long days of work, I’d chop, stir, and simmer as a way to process emotions. Food became therapy.

A turning point came in my thirties when I faced a personal health challenge. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition that forced me to rethink how I ate. Suddenly, food wasn’t just emotional—it became physical healing too. I began experimenting with whole foods, fresh vegetables, and nutrient-rich meals that made me feel stronger and healthier. That journey showed me how food can nourish both body and spirit.

The Birth of The Heartful Spoon

By the time I turned forty, I knew I wanted to create a space that celebrated the heart behind every meal. That’s when The Heartful Spoon came to life.

The name reflects my belief that every spoonful of food carries more than flavor—it carries care, memory, and love. Whether it’s a spoonful of hearty stew shared with friends on a winter night, or a sweet spoonful of ice cream that brings back childhood joy, food touches the heart in ways nothing else can.
