  • 1 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Sauté the chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat until translucent (about 5 minutes).
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, sautéed onions, breadcrumbs, eggs, ketchup, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until just combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan or on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Spread additional ketchup on top for glazing.
  6. Bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
