  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
  • 12 oz penne pasta
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Chop the onion and garlic finely.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté onions until translucent. Add minced garlic and stir until golden.
  3. Increase heat to medium-high, add ground beef, and cook until browned.
  4. Add canned tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; mix well and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  5. While the sauce simmers, cook penne according to package directions until al dente. Reserve some pasta water before draining.
  6. Add drained pasta into the sauce mixture; stir gently while adding reserved pasta water gradually for creaminess.
