Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. 1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm milk with active dry yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. 2. Make Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center and add yeast mixture, eggs, and melted butter. Mix until combined.
  3. 3. Knead Dough: Transfer dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4. Let Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. 5. Shape Beignets: Roll out dough to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut into squares.
  6. 6. Fry Beignets: Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry dough pieces for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  7. 7. Dust with Powdered Sugar: Generously sprinkle powdered sugar over warm beignets before serving.
