  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp red food coloring (optional)
  • 6 popsicle sticks or skewers

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry the apples, then insert the sticks into the tops.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, mix sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), about 10 minutes.
  4. If desired, add red food coloring for color.
  5. Remove from heat and cool slightly before dipping each apple into the syrup until fully coated.
  6. Place on parchment paper and let set for about 30 minutes until hardened.
