  • 1/2 tsp black pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes.
  2. Increase heat to medium-high and add ground beef. Cook until browned thoroughly, breaking it apart with a spoon (around 7-10 minutes).
  3. Pour in the canned tomatoes with their juice. Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. If using red wine, add it now.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for 30-45 minutes to deepen the flavors.
