  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 fat content)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian-style)
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix until just combined.
  3. Roll mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  5. While baking, heat marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
  6. Slice open each sub roll and add one or two meatballs inside. Spoon marinara sauce over the top and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Return subs to the oven for 5-7 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
