Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups beef broth (low-sodium)
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into oval patties about ½ inch thick.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear each patty for about 4-5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
  4. Remove patties and set aside. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté remaining onions until translucent.
  5. Sprinkle flour over onions; cook for 1 minute while stirring constantly. Gradually whisk in beef broth and soy sauce; bring to a simmer until thickened (about 3-4 minutes).
  6. Return steaks to the gravy; simmer on low for an additional 5 minutes.
  7. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
